Terms of use
1. In brief
firmaotsing.ee is a free public website that aggregates Estonian company data from public sources (Business Register, Tax and Customs Board, Public Procurement Register, Supreme Court, State Gazette). By using the site you agree to the terms below.
2. Permitted use
You may use the site for:
- background checks and due diligence on business counterparties,
- journalism and public-interest research,
- personal lookups against the Estonian business register,
- browsing via a normal browser, under human control.
3. Prohibited use
Automated access is prohibited without our prior written permission. This includes, but is not limited to:
- scrapers, crawlers, bots, headless browsers, AI agents, and any other automation tooling;
- bypassing technical access controls, rate limits, CAPTCHAs, or IP blocks;
- continuing to call our API after a rate limit (HTTP 429) has been returned;
- downloading the dataset in whole or in substantial part in order to republish, resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit it elsewhere;
- using firmaotsing.ee content as training data for machine-learning or AI models without prior written permission.
Search engines (Google, Bing, etc.) may index the site according to the rules in robots.txt.
4. Data sources and accuracy
Data on companies, board members, shareholders, beneficial owners, tax debts, public procurements and court decisions comes from Estonian public-data registries. We do not verify each record line by line — if you see incorrect information on the site, the source of truth is the respective upstream register.
To correct the underlying record, contact the relevant register operator directly. We refresh the data daily.
5. Database rights
While individual records come from public sources, the aggregated, curated and indexed database (including the search, leaderboard, relationship and court-decision structure) is protected under EU Database Directive 96/9/EC and Estonian copyright law. Systematic copying is prohibited even though the underlying records are otherwise public.
6. No warranty
The service is provided as is. We make no representations as to availability or completeness, and accept no liability for decisions taken on the basis of information displayed on the site. For any material business decision, consult the primary source.
7. Remedies for breach
In the event of breach of these terms, we may, without prior notice:
- apply rate limits or block your IP address;
- file an abuse report with your hosting provider, CloudFront, or internet service provider;
- commence legal proceedings under Estonian law for breach of database rights, unfair competition, or other applicable claims.
8. Privacy
How we collect and use visitor data is described in the privacy policy.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by Estonian law. Disputes are resolved by the Harju County Court, unless the user is a consumer to whom EU consumer-protection law applies.
10. Changes to the terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the homepage. The current version is always on this page; by continuing to use the site after a change, you agree to the new version.
11. Contact
